A short note on the one decision at the center of a product I built and shipped alone.
Loomavi is live and free to try at loomavi.com. This is not a spec or a teardown. It is one honest look at the single choice that shaped the whole thing.
Loomavi started as a tool for me. I would feel envy, or anger, or get upset over something that looked small to everyone else, and I could not tell you why, or how any of it connected. I wanted something that could look at what I was feeling and explain the pattern underneath it. It turned out a lot of people want that too, mostly women who think a lot and feel deeply and want to feel seen, and parents trying to understand a child's behavior.
Every generic AI can hold a back-and-forth. That was exactly what I did not want. A conversation keeps you in the loop, one more question, one more reply, and you leave with more open tabs than you came in with. I wanted the opposite. You ask why, Loomavi reads the pattern beneath it, and you get one answer written to you personally, with depth and simplicity, so you can say "wow" and put the phone down. Closure, not engagement. There is enough bombardment around us already. I did not want to add to it.
I bet that one insight that actually lands is worth more than an hour of chat that does not.
That choice cost me the thing most products chase. No endless sessions, no "keep them talking" loop, none of the usage metrics a product is supposed to want. I made the trade on purpose.
Loomavi is anonymized by design. I do not connect a question to a person in our database, and I do not keep history beyond 60 days. That was a deliberate trade: data I could have collected, given up for trust. If the product is about feeling safe enough to be honest, then keeping everything forever contradicts the whole point.
Too generic and it reads like a horoscope. Too specific and it feels wrong. And it could not feel like AI. There is no clean rule for that line, so I tuned it by hand, again and again, reading the outputs, asking how each one felt to me, and keeping only what felt aligned and human. I widened the sources it draws from so an insight would land for anyone, not just one kind of person.
The product is restraint. One honest answer, held privately, that sounds like a person wrote it.
